Dr. K. Gopinath an academician par excellence has been working with SDMCET since 1987. Apart from Teaching and Research he has also been actively involved in various administrative and cultural activities of our college. He is presently serving as Principal from 02-03-2020, Vice Principal from 20-01-2020 and Dean of Student Welfare since 2011. He is also a Member of Academic Council of the College.
Prof Dr. K .Gopinath is Doctorate of Engineering from VTU and M.Tech from NIT Suratkal. He graduated with a Bachelor’s in Engineering from Karnataka University. He has published and presented various papers in National and International Journals on Heat and Mass Transfer, Fluid Machines and Turbines. He was the Principal Investigator for the TAPTEC project. He is also a member of the Standing Committee responsible for the implementation of TEQIP 1.2, A World Bank Sponsored Fund.
Dr. K Gopinath, Dean Student Welfare has been responsible for all the cultural and sports activities in the campus. He is also responsible for the code of conduct and the decorum that has to be maintained throughout the campus. Dr. K Gopinath has also been actively involved in overall administration of the college. Under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Gopinath the college organizes Insignia every year, a Mega Techno-Cultural Event in which more than 3000 students from all over India participate in 80 events.
Dr. Gopinath served as a Public Relations Officer since 2003.Hs has been working efficiently as an interface between the college, press and public at large. During his tenure a student council has been formed to act as a bridge between Students and Teaching community. This serves as a platform for addressing academic and staff student relationship issues.
Dr. Gopinath has been nominated as L.I.C member and subject expert responsible for awarding affiliation and recognition of various VTU Colleges. Many a times he has been a VTU nominee for faculty recruitment in various Engineering Colleges affiliated to VTU. He was also deputed to Mauritius to ensure smooth conduct of VTU examination.

Prof. G L Rajabanshi is a Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering and and Dean Administration at SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, Karnataka, India. He obtained his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad and Master degree in Production Engineering from S J C College of Engineering, Mysore. Also guided 30 U.G and 10 PG student projects. Conducted 3 Conferences and 2 Workshops. Life member of MIE and ISTE.
Prof. D Shreenivas Bhat is presently serving as Dean – Student Welfare since March 2020 and is a Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering at S.D.M. College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, Karnataka, since 1987.
He was the first batch student of SDMCET, Dharwad of Mechanical Engineering (1979-84) and secured first rank in the department. He obtained Master degree in Heat Power Engineering from KREC Surathkal, (1985-87). He has also served for a period of One year at Akay Industries , Hubli. His fields of interest are in the areas of Fluid Mechanics, Thermo Dynamics, Heat Transfer and Cryogenics.
He has teaching experience of 33 years. He has taught courses for UG and PG level and guided several projects for UG and PG. Under his guide ship UG and PG projects were funded by KSCST and DST, New Delhi. He is a Life Member of Indian Society of Technical Education (MISTE) Life Member of The Institution of Engineers (India) and Life Member of Combustion Institute (CIE).
He served as Dean Evaluation / Controller of Examination (COE) from 2007 -13 and established Examination Section at SDMCET. He also served as HOD of Mechanical Engineering from 2015-17. Under his leadership various National and International Workshops were conducted. He has rendered services at SDM College of Engineering & Technology in various positions such as Warden of Hostels, Academic Council Member, IQAC Member, carried out Consultant work for National Raditors Pondicherry. He also served as member of Board of Studies, DUGC, DPGC and BOE in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has published several papers at International Journal and National Journals and presented papers at International and National Conferences.
Dr. Ramesh L. Chakrasali is presently working as a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Dean(Academic Program) and Dean (Research and Development), SDM College of Engineering &Technology Dharwad.
He obtained his B.E. (Electrical) and M.E. (Digital Electronics) from SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, affiliated to Karnataka University, Dharwad. He was awarded Ph.D. from Visvesvaraya Technological University Belgaum, in the field of renewable energy sources based standalone micro hybrid grid.
Dr. Ramesh Chakrasali has 28 years of teaching experience. He is a Fellow of IE (I), IETE and life member of ISTE. His areas of interests being power system SCADA, Digital Electronics and Testing and Commissioning of Electrical Equipment and Utilization of Electrical Power. He teaches subjects like Digital Electronics, Digital System Design using VHDL, Computer Networks, and Power System SCADA, Deregulation of Power Systems etc.
Dr. Ramesh has guided more than 40 UG projects and 10 PG projects. Currently 8 students are pursuing their Ph.D. under his guidance in different areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
He has published 2 papers in Elsevier International Journal and 11in other international journals. He also has published 2paper in national journal and presented more than 18papers in national and 10 in international conferences.
He has also authored three books viz Basic Electrical engineering, Testing and Commissioning of Electrical Equipment and Electrical Power Utilization. He has coauthored a book on The Constitution of India and Professional Ethics.
Apart from teaching and research he is a regular speaker on domain specific and general engineering related topics in several conferences, pedagogical trainings and workshops.
Prof. Chakrasali has worked as a member accreditation team constituted by The Institution of Engineers (India) for Electrical Engineering branch to accredit UG program of an Engineering College and LIC memberof VTU and Goa Universities. He has worked in various capacities at different universities examination work. Prof. Chakrasali is serving as Member of Academic bodies like

Professor Clement Moses Chelli, Dean Infrastructure Planning & Development completed his graduation from the BVB College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli, in the year 1984. He further obtained M.E. Degree in Power Systems, from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, in the year 1988.
Prof. C M Chelli, joined SDMCET in August 1985 as a Lecturer and has 34 years of teaching experience in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. He has been teaching various UG subjects in Power Systems, Microcontrollers, Embedded Systems and Smart Grid technologies for the PG program in Power Systems Engineering. He has been guiding several PG projects and is a Life member of ISTE.
Apart from teaching he has shouldered additional responsibilities such as Electrical Maintenance In-charge, HOD E&E and Chief Nodal Officer TEQIP 1.2. He took over as Dean Infrastructure Planning & Development from September 2018.
Prof. Savitri Raju is an Associate Professor in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Controller of Examinations at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, Karnataka, India.
She obtained her Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from BVB College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli and Masters Degree in Digital Electronics from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad.
She guided 100 UG and 20 PG students. She conducted workshop on Image Processing. She published 05 papers at International Journal and 04 at Conferences.
She is a life member of ISTE, IETE and IE.
Dr. Satish S Bhairannawar is a Professor & Dean CIII in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, Karnataka, INDIA. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering from Sir. M Visveshwariah Insitute of Technology,Bangalore. Master degree in University Visveshwaraya College of Engineering, from Bangalore. Ph.D. from UVCE, Bangalore University, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Guiding Four (4) no. of Ph.D. students at Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka and guided 30 U.G. and 18 PG. students. Conducted Two (2) Conference and Seven (7) Workshop on VLSI Architectures for IMAGE & VIDEO Processing and achieved Two (2) awards. Published Twelve (12) no. of papers at International Journal and Eleven (11) at conferences and life member of IEAE.
