Summary of the Parents Meet
Date: 13/06/2020 Venue: College Auditorium Time:10:30AM onwards
As per the instructions from the Vice Chancellor,VTU, Belagavi, the Parents Meet was held on 13/06/2020 at the college auditorium chaired by Dr.K.Gopinath, Principal, SDMCET, Dharwad. The members present during the meeting were Prof.D.S.Bhat, Dean Student Welfare, Dr.R.L.Chakrasali, Dean Academics and Prof.G.L.Rajabanshi, Dean Administration.
The auditorium was completely sanitized before and after the meeting. Before entering to the auditorium all the parents and other members were sanitized and thermally screened. During the meeting physical distancing between the members was maintained.
Prof.Shravan Nayak welcomed the gathering. The Principal addressed the gathering and explained about the problems associated with COVID-19 pandemic. He assured that all the academic related matters and examinations will be held according to the guidelines of VTU, Belagavi.
Some parents discussed the matters related to academics, examinations and safety of the students after the reopening of the college. Some parents asked the questions through online about the same through Webex meeting app.
Quarries from the parents/guardians and reply from the Principal and Deans.
- Whether physical class room teaching will be held or not before the examination?
Ans: Yes, at any case without physical class room teaching no examinations will be conducted.
- How many days shall be dedicated towards class room teaching after reopening of the college?
Ans: Tentatively 2 weeks for VIII semester and 3 to 4 weeks for lower semesters.
- What will be the syllabus for Semester End Examinations and weightage of online coverage of syllabus?
Ans: Syllabus covered before lockdown and expected syllabus to be covered in physical class room teaching after reopening of the college.
- ill be the college timings after reopening?
Ans: It depends on the situation. Tentatively it is planned to run the classes in two shifts.
- Is it required to have 15 days quarantine for out of state students after their return to the college?
Ans: It depends upon the government directives as applicable then. Students if quarantined shall be given a chance to write the examination afterwards as per VTU guidelines. What about Practical Examinations?
Ans: Number of experiments conducted before lockdown and expected no. of experiments to be conducted in labs after reopening of the college shall be considered for examination.
- When will be the semester end examinations and what will be the mode of conduction?
Ans: The semester end examinations will be conducted as per VTU norms and directions.
- Whether the library facility is available to the students during this period?
Ans: Digital library facility is available for the students all the time.
- What about the present placement activities?
Ans: Placement activates are going on as usual and the recruiters have assured us that the placed students can join after the final examinations.
- How will be the transportation for the students after the reopening of the college?
Ans: After the reopening of the college the bus facility will remain as usual subjected the revised guidelines of VTU and the Government.
The Principal and Deans present clarified all the matters and doubts raised by the parents. The feedback forms with the questionnaire were distributed to the parents and filled forms were collected back.
Most of the parents appeared to be satisfied the measures taken by the Institution in the interest of students’ learning activities including the online teaching.
Resolutions of the meeting:
The opinion of all the parents attended the meeting were collected. The college will compile and consolidate the opinion expressed by the parents and same will be communicated to the VTU for their kind perusal. Further, it is resolved to abide by the instructions issued by VTU from time to time by all the stakeholders in the days to come.
