Department of Humanities

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences has been established as a separate department in the year 2021. The department has three faculty members; two of them hold the doctorate degree and one has BA degree with LLB (Spl.). The faculty members provide excellent teaching and learning opportunities to enhance learner’s Linguistic skills along with the knowledge of Indian constitution and professional ethics. The department contributes in the line of the vision of the Institute in striving for excellence in teaching and learning activities. All faculty members upgrade their knowledge through their participation in workshops, seminars, FDPs and conferences. The Department has a vibrant academic atmosphere backed by excellent infrastructural facilities. Faculty members have published 5 research papers in Journals and presented more than 10 research papers in National and International conferences.The vision of the department is to supplement professional competence with communication skills and ethical values. Faculty members are actively associated with various literary and professional Associations. One staff member has been recognized as the subject expert by the Editor of Shodha a Biannual Bilingual Research Periodical published from Dr. HMN Research Center, Sri D M College, Ujire D.K.

The department encourages the students to participate in co-curricular activities like Innovative Idea presentation, poster presentation, seminars on recent developments in engineering and technology with practical applications, preplanned events for science day celebration, Inter-college competition  at annual Cultural-technical  fest ‘Insignia’ etc.,

Dr.J.M.Noolageri is a Lecturer in the department of Humanities (Kannada) at SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, Karnataka, INDIA. Dr. Shashikant S Kurodi is an Assistant Professor in the Department (English) at SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad, Karnataka, INDIA. He has obtained his Bachelor of Arts (B.A) and Master of Arts (M.A) Degree in English from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He obtained his M.Phil Degree from Alagappa University, Karaikudi in the year 2008 and his Ph.D Degree from Dravidian University, Kuppam in the year 2017.

He has participated and presented his research papers in more than 15 National seminars and conferences and 3 International conferences. He has participated in more than 15 webinars and online conferences. He has completed his UGC Minor Research Project on: Culture Specific Nuances in the Translation of Vacanas by A.K. Ramanujan in the year 2014.

He has participated in National Integration Youth Camp under the auspices of NYP held at Port Blair, Andaman from Feb. 21 to 28, 2009. He has also participated in 10 Days Adventure Camp as an Escort of the team of 10 NSS volunteers of different colleges under Mangalore University from 18th June to 27th June 2011 held at Hatkoti, Shimla (H.P.) organised by Regional Adventure Sports Centre, Hatkoti, Teh. Jubbal, Dist. Shimla (H.P.)

He writes poems and literary reviews regularly to POETCRIT an International Refereed Bi-annual Journal of Literary Criticism and Contemporary Poetry.

He has been awarded Best NSS Programme Officer Award for the year 2010 from Mangalore University. He has participated as resource person in different academic and social awareness programmes.  He has also participated as delegate in various training programmes, workshops on counselling, teaching and learning and health awareness.
