The Industry Institute Interface Cell was established at SDMCET in 2016. Over the years, considerable progress has been made and the academic departments have been carrying out various activities envisaged with the support from the CIII Cell, as deemed to provide a
platform for both the students as well as faculty members to be aware of industry expectations of skill sets required for students. This enables students to be aware of the lacunae in their skills and provides an opportunity to upgrade them. It also enables Faculty
to be aware of industry expectations & train students to meet these expectations. The Center aims at achieving the following broad objectives.

  1. Promotion of testing and consultancy services in the college.
  2. Industry Study Tour Program (ISTP).
  3. To arrange industrial training/internship for the students.
  4. To arrange industrial training for the faculty.
  5. To organize industrial exhibitions.
  6. Involving industry personnel in delivering lectures on latest technological growth.
  7. Inviting eminent industrial personalities in the preparation of academic curriculum as per industry needs and other academic works of our institution.
  8. Organizing training programs in the college.
  9. Providing incubation facility.
  10. Promotion of entrepreneurship among the students.
  11. Generate funds from industry/other agencies for maintenance, development of the center.
  12. Any other activities related to Industry-Institute Interaction.

Industry Institute Interaction Meet 2017

The Industry-Institute Interaction would enhance mutual benefits when a interdependent relationship is developed between the two systems. The ultimate aim of this relationship will be the creation of confidence in industry by the Institute which would result industries involving voluntarily the Institute at various stages of its development.

Center for Industry Institute Interface of SDMCET has created a platform for one day Industry Institute Interaction on Thursday, 10th March 2017 focusing on deliberation of various issues like: Testing
and Consultancy, Research, Placements, Students Projects, Exchange of Experts between the Institute and Industry, Invited Guest lecture programs, Exchange of human resources and Curriculum upgrading.

Surymitra is Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi’s most ambitious program. The dream of our Prime Minister of India is to empower India by generating 100 GW of green energy by
2022 by tapping the Solar potential. To realize this, a lot of PV technicians are required across India.

Suryamitra is the project launched by the Government of India, through its Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).The responsibility of developing PV solar technology skills has been entrusted to the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) at the Central level and to Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd. (KREDL) at the State level. Our college has been affiliated by MNRE/NISE/SCGJ to develop this skill in the youth of Northern Karnataka.

Our college Center for Industry Institute Interface (CIII) is looking after the successful running of this Surymitra Training to the youth of Karnataka. So far we have trained 270 Suryamitras. The training program is encouraging, as many solar companies have started recruiting our trainees and most of them are already working in the solar related companies.

Technology Barrier Reduction (TBR) Program

TBR is Technology Barrier Reduction program for school children entering 9th and 10th standard. From the past two years our college Center for Industry Institute Interface (CIII) is looking after the successful running of this program. The program is financially supported by Foundation for Advancement of Education and Research (FAER), M/s. Zebra Technologies and also supported by Ladder Consultancy Services, Bengaluru.

The objective of this program is to educate a batch of 30 to 40, 8th and 9th standard government rural school children on latest science and technology and thus to reduce the technological barrier between urban and rural children.

SDM Radio Engineer SWALPA KELIRI

“SDM Radio Engineer Swalpa Kelri” is a 5 minute technical talk 100 program series broadcasted in AIR Dharwad at 6.45am and Vivida Bharati at 8 am.

The main objective of this program is to educate the public on latest information on technology and technical gadgets used in daily life. This will highlight all information about the gadget in an interesting way. Faculties from Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science and Chemical Engineering across the college expertise in their relevant fields have delivered talk.

The program was broadcasted during 2015-16 and on public demand is re broadcasted in 2016-17.
